Coast Guard Achievement Medal
Criteria:
The Coast Guard Achievement Medal (CGACH) is an award of the United States Coast Guard intended to recognize the contributions of Junior Officers and Enlisted Personnel. The authority to award the medal rests upon local commanders, granting them discretion to when and what actions make one eligible for this award.
First approved for wear by the Coast Guard in 1967, subsequent awards of the medal are to be denoted by a 5/16th inch gold star device worn on the award. In the Coast Guard an Operational Distinguishing Device is also authorized in certain circumstances. The Valor device is also approved for wear if the award is presented for heroism in combat.
